Posted by u/Odd-Welder1771 3 hours ago TIFU by Accidentally Revealing My Secret Talent in a Job Interview S I've been on the job hunt for a while, and I finally landed an interview for my dream position at a prestigious company.
  • 03
Everything was going smoothly until the interviewer asked me that dreaded question: "Tell me about a unique talent or skill you possess." Now, most people would probably mention something safe and work-related, like proficiency in Excel or excellent communication skills. But not me. Oh no, I had to go and overshare like it was my job.
  • 04
The interviewer's expression shifted from polite interest to utter bewilderment faster than you can say "krabby patty." I immediately regretted my decision, but it was too late to take it back.
  • 05
Needless to say, the rest of the interview was awkward, to say the least. I could tell that I had completely lost my chance at landing the job, all because I couldn't resist showing off my questionable talents.
  • 06
As I left the interview room, I couldn't help but cringe at my own stupidity. Lesson learned: save the cartoon impressions for parties, not job interviews.
  • 07
TL;DR: During a job interview, I impulsively revealed my secret talent for impersonating cartoon characters, effectively torpedoing my chances of landing the dream job. Moral of the story: know when to keep your quirky talents under wraps.

send_me_shibari. 2 hr. ago Lmao. Dude, interviewing candidates is boring as Unless the person taking it was incredibly humourless, I'm pretty sure you've just given them a funny story to tell. In fact, it's reasonably likely that you may get a call back. Either way, best of luck!

Tyurmus 23 min. ago. edited 14 min. ago This. Our final interview is a culture fit. It also carries the most weight in the process. Pretty much, it is an hour of hr, team manager, and one or two members of the team you'd be joining, sussing you out to see if they can get along with you.

Some people have come off way too professional/uptight that despite their qualifications Know will get them disqualified. we always make it aware to the applicant that this is a culture fit interview and to expect more personal interest/personality questions.

bugbugladybug 1 hr. ago I had one of those JCB phones as a shop phone. While recruiting for sales folks, I asked a prospect to give me the features and benefits of the phone. He looked at it, and immediately launched it at the floor, smashing it into a million bits.

He just looked at it and said "I didn't think it would break to be honest" and I lost the It's the funniest in an interview. Got the job. plot. I'd ever seen Got sacked a few months later for that same impulsiveness, but it was an entertaining few months.

VoidCoelacanth. 1 hr. ago They asked for a unique talent or skill, and they got it. Excel is as "unique" as every accountant, analyst, and logistics expert on the planet - which is to say not at all.

saybobby 55 min. ago So I learned something when interviewing candidates with a (seasoned) coworker. We interviewed candidates and one was exceedingly qualified and the other was good as well but not as experienced. When I asked which she suggested, she picked the latter. When I asked her

them anything they don't know AND I'll enjoy having lunch with them, so I choose that." So guy with cartoon impressions - sounds like you'd be fun to have lunch with. It was a good learning moment for me about hiring for team dynamics, culture and morale and not just by qualifications alone.

Chronox2040 · 51 min. ago 100% agree on this. Work environment is key. Other thing that's important if that people like to pretend a lot, but usually they are not good at it. Someone pretentious is far worse than someone being a bit awkward.

mdude 7221 2 hr. ago Meh screw that man, if they act like that to a bit of humour they're probably a very stuck up person. I get that it's an interview but we're not robots, show some personality. I wouldn't work there anyway. Good luck on your next one!
